Goethe B2 Schreiben Teil 1 – Forumsbeitrag step-by-step

B2 Schreiben Part 1 is the biggest single point source in the writing exam – and the task most learners lose points on, by skipping a Leitpunkt or slipping into the wrong register. Here is a plan that prevents that.

What is the B2 Forumsbeitrag?

You respond to a post in an online forum about a current topic (e.g., remote work, sustainability, education). Format per 2026 Modellsatz: ~150 words, 30 minutes, 60 of 100 points (Part 1 + Part 2), no salutation/closing, neutral register, 4 Leitpunkte.

Evaluation criteria (15 points each)

1. Aufgabenerfüllung – Are all 4 Leitpunkte explicitly addressed? Format correct?
2. Kohärenz – Logical order, clear paragraphs, good connectors?
3. Wortschatz – B2-level, precise, varied?
4. Strukturen – Subordinate clauses, passive, Konjunktiv II, accurate grammar?

E-rule: If you write off-topic or submit blank, you get 0 points automatically – even with perfect grammar.

5-step plan in 30 minutes

1. Read & underline (3 min.) – Mark the 4 Leitpunkte. They use one of seven standard phrasings: Erklären Sie…, Erläutern Sie mögliche Argumente…, Erläutern Sie Vorteile für…, Nennen Sie Beispiele für…, Nennen Sie andere Möglichkeiten für…, Nennen Sie Alternativen, wie man…, Argumentieren Sie anhand von Beispielen für oder gegen…
2. Plan (5 min.) – 1–2 bullets per Leitpunkt. Standard structure: Intro (1–2 sentences, topic reference) → Body (3–4 paragraphs, one Leitpunkt each) → Close (1–2 sentences, opinion).
3. Write (18 min.) – First draft, no stops. At least one connector per paragraph.
4. Word-count check (1 min.) – 130+ mandatory; 150–170 safe. Below 100 = automatic point loss.
5. Correction pass (3 min.) – V2 word order in main clauses, verb-final in subordinate clauses, genus, plurals, tense.

Common mistakes

1. Forgotten Leitpunkt → use a checklist before submitting.
2. Salutation or closing added → forum post = omit them.
3. Wrong register → neutral, no "du", but no "Sehr geehrte…" either.
4. V2 violation ("Ich heute denke …") → Heute denke ich, dass …
5. Subordinate verb position ("…, weil ich denke das…") → verb at the end of the subclause.
6. Wrong genus / plural → always learn nouns with their article.
