1. General information

GoetheCoach (hereinafter "the Service") is a free, non-commercial hobby project created and operated by János Szabó, a private individual based in Hungary.

The Service is available at goethecoach.de and is provided free of charge. No commercial relationship is established between the operator and users of the Service.

2. Scope and acceptance

By accessing or using GoetheCoach — whether through the unauthenticated demo or by creating a registered account — you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must refrain from using the Service.

3. Service description

GoetheCoach is an AI-powered writing practice tool for learners preparing for Goethe-Institut German language examinations (levels A1 through C2). The Service offers:

• Exam-style writing tasks aligned with official Goethe-Institut formats
• AI-generated feedback scored against criteria modelled on official rubrics
• Real-time writing tips and coaching during task completion
• Progress tracking across practice sessions
• A free, unauthenticated demo available without registration

GoetheCoach is an independent practice tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the Goethe-Institut e.V. in any way.

4. User accounts and registration

Access to full features requires creating an account using a valid email address and password. By registering, you confirm that:

• You are at least 18 years of age, or have parental/guardian consent
• The information you provide during registration is accurate
• You will keep your login credentials confidential
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

The operator reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Permitted use

The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial language practice. You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract content or AI responses
• Submit content that is offensive, harmful, or violates the rights of third parties
• Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the security features of the Service
• Represent AI-generated feedback as an official Goethe-Institut evaluation

6. Data collection and privacy

To provide the Service, GoetheCoach stores the following data for registered users:

• Account information (email address, selected UI language)
• Writing submissions you complete during practice sessions
• Scores and AI feedback associated with each submission
• Aggregated error pattern data derived from your submissions

Your data is used exclusively to operate the Service and display your progress. Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for commercial purposes.

Writing submissions are processed by a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini) to generate feedback. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your submitted text is transmitted to this provider for processing, subject to Google's applicable data handling policies.

As a user, you have the right to request deletion of your personal data and all associated submissions. To exercise this right, contact us at the address in Section 13.

Users in the European Union may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). A separate Privacy Policy will be published in due course. Until then, please contact the operator directly with any data-related requests.

6a. Cookies and tracking

GoetheCoach uses cookies and analytics tools strictly to understand how the site is used and to improve it. The following third-party services may be loaded:

• Google Analytics & Google Tag Manager — aggregated traffic and page-view statistics.
• Microsoft Clarity — anonymous heatmaps and session replays of UI interactions.
• Ahrefs Analytics — high-level traffic measurement.

None of these tools load until you explicitly accept via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics scripts are loaded and no analytics cookies are set. Strictly necessary functionality (login session, language preference) does not depend on this consent.

You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer of any page.

7. AI-generated content

All evaluations, writing tips, task scenarios, and feedback provided by GoetheCoach are generated by artificial intelligence and are intended solely as practice guidance. They do not constitute:

• Official Goethe-Institut exam scores or results
• A guarantee of actual exam performance
• Professional language instruction or certification

AI systems can make errors. You should treat all feedback critically and as supplementary to other study methods.

8. Intellectual property

The GoetheCoach platform, its design, code, and original content are the intellectual property of János Szabó. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from them without prior written permission.

Writing texts you submit remain your own content. By submitting them, you grant the operator a limited, non-exclusive licence to process and store them for the purpose of providing the Service.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. As a free hobby project, the operator makes no guarantee of:

• Continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free availability
• The accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated feedback
• Alignment with the most current official Goethe-Institut exam formats at all times

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Hungarian law, the operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including any reliance placed on AI-generated feedback.

This includes, without limitation, any outcome in an actual Goethe-Institut examination.

11. Changes to the service and these terms

The operator reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without prior notice, given its nature as a free hobby project.

These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time. The effective date at the top of this document will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Hungary. Any disputes arising from or relating to this agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Hungary.
